FWN’s 10th Annual Filipina Leadership Summit: "Global Filipina Women: Power & Influence" A Learning Journey To Filipina Global Power

The annual summit is more than a field trip, symposium or forum. It is a Learning Journey - which immerses us in the reality – and long-range implications – of the politics of developing our career portfolio. These experiences enable us to deepen, accelerate, and internalize our own learning about the business of how to get ahead, assess our current career situation or business, how to advocate for what we want, and understanding the issues that influence Filipina women globally.

Learning Journeys reflect our conviction that the most powerful learning occurs through interaction and sharing of experiences, not from books or speeches.

“A desk is a dangerous place from which to view the world.”  - John LeCarre

Mission of Filipino Googlers Network:
Empower Filipino Googlers and Filipinos globally with education as the catalyst for action.

ERGs (or Employee Resource Groups) at Google exist to promote inclusion, social networking, development/advancement of its members, make meaningful connections to our business, and often focus on community outreach. The Filipino Googler Network was established in late 2011.

We intentionally chose "education" as a core driver to our projects because it keeps with Google's mission (to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible) and our group strongly believes that knowledge is sticky. Once you get a taste through any of our focus areas - then it's tough to shake, you can't help but want to do more!

To date members of the Filipino Googler Network have built connections here and beyond Google through social events, volunteerism, represented the unique Pinay "leaned in" perspective at leadership panels, contributed policy feedback, shared stories outside the G of "what it takes to be a Pinoy Googler" to encourage others to follow, mentored our own, pitched in when our Kababayans were in need and more. We're beyond excited about the possibilities for 2013.

We're committed to deepening the relationship with PhilDev to inspire entrepreneurship and innovation. We’re also working with the Apl.de.ap Foundation to further empower young Filipinos to recognize the reach an education can bring and how technology can play a tremendous part in accessibility and knowledge sharing. At the local outreach level, we're bringing  HS students to Google next year to help kids better understand how STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) are cool and what the possibilities are when you enter the tech workplace (limitless!). We're beyond lucky to work for a company that supports our interests, rallies together to help locals in times of need through efforts like the crisis maps and recognizes the unique value ERGs play in building community, leadership and innovation.
